Because it's aware of its own shortcomings, takes nothing for granted and is infinitely flexible.<br />Define single<br />I was drunk at the time.<br /><br /><h5>About the Title</h5><br />The title is an ironic testament to my Consuming Project of the previous semester (each semester, I take on one project which I direct the most attention towards). In this case, it was a polemic between contemporaries <a href="http://www.leeds.ac.uk/sociology/people/bauman.htm" target="_blank">Zygmunt Bauman</a> and <a href="http://www.lse.ac.uk/Giddens/" target="_blank">Anthony Giddens</a> and the early Modernist Sociology Ferdinand Toennies.<br />Infinite Community was coined to sit most uncomfortably with these theorists, yet most comfortably with my (early) conceptions of the phenomenon of weblogging.<br /><br /><h5>About the Blog</h5><br />I began this blog in July 2003.<br /><ul><br /><b>First and foremost this blog is a vehicle for my academic praxis. </b>I enjoy writing enourmously, particularly if that writing concerns complex social theory. I know this is not conducive to easily digestible reading, so I try to modify my rants accordingly. I also value my readership enough to address concerns about my turgid narcissism on a case by case basis. The <a href="mailto:declank@NOSPAMtpg.com.au" title="my primary personal email address" target="_blank">email me</a> link is there if you feel the urge, and I generally respond within a few days.<br /><b>Second, it is a personal site.</b> Expect me to drop in the occassional personal note.<br /><b>Third, it is social. </b>I never started this blog to *meet people* or to *make friends.* In fact, apart from Nic, almost none of my friends are regular readers. Therefore, I aim to connect with great minds, and great humour across the world.
